AHOSKIE – Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center invites members of the community to its celebration of patients from 3-6 p.m. on Oct. 4 at Ahoskie Comprehensive Care.

It was rescheduled from earlier this month due to the effects of Tropical Storm Debby.

The Oct. 4 event will include free games and snacks, musical entertainment, free meals to the first 600 guests, many informational tables, and giveaways — all distributed on a first-come, first served basis.

The Food Bank of the Albemarle will be distributing free food boxes and the RCCHC Mobile Health Clinic will be onsite completing health physicals for children ages 12 and over.

Many community businesses have donated time, goods, and money to the event, including Aledade, Walgreen’s, Nucor, Equiscript, United Healthcare, Perdue, Commercial Ready Mix Cement Products, Quest Diagnostics, and local restaurants and shops like Mug Shotz, Home and Garden, Advance Auto Parts, Bertie Peanuts, Los Amigos, Napoli’s Pizza and Italian, Murfreesboro Creamery, and Andrew Brown Family Farms.

In addition to the patient celebration, in August RCCHC launched preventative dental services for a limited number of current pediatric patients at Ahoskie Comprehensive Care. RCCHC also celebrated its Agricultural Worker Outreach Team, which this year was recognized by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) with the “Outstanding Migrant Health Award.”

With a mission to make high-quality, affordable care available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status, health centers save lives on the front lines of the nation’s most pressing public health challenges. They are powered by a workforce of nearly 300,000 dedicated professionals nationally and over 300 here in the RCCHC region who reach beyond the walls of the exam room to not only prevent illness but also address the social drivers that may cause it — climate change, homelessness, substance use disorders, food insecurity and behavioral health.
