The Down East Drug and Violent Crime Task Force has taken four individuals into custody this month.

On Sept. 12, Task Force agents along with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (DAC) Special Operations Unit received complaints on Trent Alexander Burby, who was out on parole for previous firearms, narcotics and eluding arrest violations.

The DAC Special Operations Unit planned a search for Burby’s residence on Corella Road near Ahoskie with the assistance of the Down East Drug & Violent Crime Task Force. During the search, one firearm and a felony amount of marijuana were discovered.

Burby was arrested by Task Force agents and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession with the intent to sell and/or deliver marijuana.

Burby was placed under a $35,000 bond for these charges. He was also held without bond for the parole violation.

On Sept. 19, Task Force agents were called to assist DAC Probation and Parole with offender searches in Hertford and Bertie counties.

Tyrese Moore, age 18, was on probation for a weapon violation. While doing a probationary search at a residence on South Catherine Creek Road in Ahoskie, agents located and seized one firearm and a felony amount of marijuana.

Moore was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with the intent to sell and/or deliver marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance.

Moore was placed under a $20,000 bond.

Also on Sept. 19, Task Force agents joined DAC Probation and Parole officers in making another arrest.

Ellic Cobb Sharpe, age 47, was on probation for previous narcotic violations. While doing a probationary search in the room at the Tomahawk Motel in Ahoskie, a considerable amount of methamphetamines and cocaine were discovered.

Sharpe was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamines, possession with intent to sell and/or deliver methamphetamines, possession with intent to sell and/or deliver cocaine, and maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance.

Sharpe was placed under no bond due to charges already pending in the court system.

On Sept. 23, Down East Task Force agents were contacted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Task Force for assistance on locating 19-year-old Quashon Morgan of Norfolk, VA. He was believed to be at a residence on Tony’s Lane outside of Windsor.

Morgan was wanted by the State of Virginia for committing an act of terror, and brandishing a firearm and reckless handling of a firearm on the campus of Old Dominion University.

Agents were able to locate Morgan and take him into custody without incident.

Morgan was served with a fugitive order and is under no bond at the Bertie Martin Regional Jail while awaiting to be extradited back to Virginia.
