RICH SQUARE – Novella Harding, 105 of Rich Square passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Rich Square Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rich Square, NC. She was born in Northampton County to the late William Harding and Sissie Harding on September 12, 1919.

At an early age, she joined Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Rich Square, NC. Novella was married to the late Grady Scott and they had one daughter, Glenda.

At the age of eighteen, she moved to Norfolk, VA. She worked a short time in sales at Hofhiemer’s Shoe Store before becoming an extended family member of Doctor and Mrs. Fink in Norfolk, VA. She assisted them in raising their five children. In North Carolina she worked as a housekeeper for the Synder Family in Ahoskie, NC. She also provided care for her mother and brother until their demise.

We thank God for blessing her with a long life which she shared providing love and care for those around her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Maude, Crosby (Dick), Calvin and William Jr. (Happy Jack); and three grandchildren, Walter Jr., Victoria and Cary.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Glenda; five grandchildren, Gregory (Wanda), Darrell (Gloria), Sharon (Gabe), Keith (Dawn) and Chuckie; eighteen great grandchildren, and a host of great great grandchildren, other family including William, the Fink family, Mrs. Fink, Andrew, Robert, Edward, Fred along with a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel in Rich Square, NC. Interment will follow in the Moore Family Cemetery in Rich Square, NC with Rev. Dr. Tony Flood officiating.
