MURFREESBORO – Education Insider magazine has honored Chowan University as one of the Top 20 Christian Colleges for 2024.

This prestigious recognition showcases Chowan’s foundation, firm and unfailing, cemented with communication, self-care and wellness, coachability, spiritual maturity, problem solving, financial literacy, collaboration, technical competency, and professionalism, the life skills so necessary in preparing students for career success.

The Best Christian College is an umbrella for Chowan’s recent distinction as one of the top ten Sport Science Colleges in Higher Education Review Magazine, and another elite award – The Business degree program in Research.com, as well as the Best Athletic Program by readers of The Roanoke-Chowan News Herald in their annual “Best of the R-C.”

“Our mission blends tradition with forward-thinking innovation to prepare students for today’s demands and tomorrow’s opportunities,” said Dr. Rosemary M. Thomas, Chowan’s President.

Dr. Thomas is appreciated by the faculty, staff and students as she creates an environment where “Chowan is a place where faith, family, and future converge.”

“Rosemary Thomas is the right leader at the right time for Chowan University,” noted Kay Thomas, Chowan’s Director of Development. “She has a deep understanding and appreciation for Chowan’s history, culture, and new life skills program. As the first female president in Chowan’s history, she is certain to leave a strong mark in this historic milestone.”

Chowan’s creation of community doesn’t stop with the university as it reaches far into Ahoskie and Murfreesboro, building relationships with leaders and business owners.
