MURFREESBORO – On Wednesday, the NCAA announced its Division II men’s soccer regional rankings, and Chowan University secured a spot in those rankings.

In addition to this week’s first NCAA Super Regional ranking, in previous weeks the Hawks have been regionally ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Association rankings.

These rankings will be released weekly by the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Soccer Committees leading up to the NCAA Championship Selection. The next set of rankings will be listed from 1 to 12, while this week’s rankings are presented in alphabetical order.

“After a slow start to the season, we are pleased with the way we’re playing right now,” stated Chowan men’s head coach Chris Whalley. “However, through our experience, we realize we need to take this one game at a time and not overlook anyone. As a group, we are excited to go to Barton this weekend in hopes to secure the highest possible seeding for our conference tournament.”

The Chowan University men’s soccer team boasts an overall record of 7-4-3 and a 6-2-2 mark in Conference Carolinas. The Hawks are set to face the Barton Bulldogs on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Wilson where they will wrap up their regular season and aim to clinch the East Division title for the second consecutive year.

Last week, the Chowan men’s team was ranked #9 in the region by the United Soccer Coaches Organization Regional Poll. This week, the Hawks have climbed to #7 in the rankings.

The Hawks sit behind Limestone, Coker, Mars Hill, Clayton State, Lincoln Memorial, and Catawba that make up the top six. Chowan sits at seventh, followed by Converse, North Georgia, and Francis Marion to wrap up the poll.
