Info sought on cold case

JACKSON – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to an effort to solve a cold case.

On June 14, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting that occurred at a residence in Severn. Upon arrival, officers discovered that 50-year-old Erskine Lawrence of Severn was the victim of a shooting that resulted in his death.

To date, no evidence has been developed to bring the person or persons responsible for Lawrence’s death to justice.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to bring closure to the Lawrence family.

Anyone that has any information that will lead to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this homicide is encouraged to contact the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with tips or information can submit information anonymously on Northampton County Crime Stoppers website at http://www.northamptoncountycrimestoppers.org or contact Detective W. Brown at Northampton County Sheriff’s Office (252-534-2611).

On July 15, 2022, Governor Roy Cooper signed and approved a reward request in the amount of $5,000 in this homicide case. The family of Erskine Lawrence is also offering an additional reward in the amount of $5,000, separate from the Governor’s reward.

These rewards will be paid to anyone that has information that leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for Lawrence’s death.
