AULANDER – Brenda Shores Evans passed peacefully from this life on November 7, 2024, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, at the age of 63. Born in Hertford County, North Carolina, on October 20, 1961, she was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Brenda was a longtime member of the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed praising her Lord and Savior through song. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her strength and guidance. Brenda’s love for her family was immeasurable. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, often expressing how deeply they enriched her life. Her joy was evident in crafting projects where she always took the lead, infusing her creations with love and care. Brenda’s legacy of faith, love for her family, and passion for crafting beautiful memories will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Elwood Shores; her daughter, April Vick Harrell; and her brother, Gary Shores.
Brenda is survived by her loving mother, Pauline Shores Hurdle of Windsor; her son, Phillip Daniel Vick of Winton; and five cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Briane Harrell of Ahoskie, Jennifer Lynn Pierce and husband Seth of Ahoskie, Tristan Blake Harrell of Ahoskie, Janiece LeAnn Vick of Williamston, and Lauren Rene Vick of Ahoskie. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Kairi Perry and Blake Lee Harrell. Brenda is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Joyce Lassiter and husband Ricky of Aulander, and Lois Johnson and husband Everette of Kenly, NC; and her brother, Bobby Shores and his wife Rita of Robertsdale, AL; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aulander, NC. Rev. Taylor Latham will officiate the service. The family will welcome friends for visitation at the church one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.
