AHOSKIE – The Tri-County Hotshots, a 12U travel softball team made up of several members of the Ahoskie state championship squad, combined their teamwork and holiday spirit to make a big impact at the Winter World Series Tournament.

Ahead of the tournament, the team shopped for a Toys for Tots drive, with all donations being directed to the Falcon Children’s Home.

On Nov. 14, the players headed to Walmart in Ahoskie with a generous $500 donation from an anonymous parent. Just as they strategize on the ballfield, the girls carefully planned their shopping to ensure they could buy gifts for kids of all ages. Their efforts resulted in 76 toys purchased, with the final total coming to $501.03.

The Hotshots delivered the toys on Nov. 16, the first day of the tournament. In addition to their charitable efforts, the team showcased their competitive skills, finishing as runners-up in the Silver Bracket. This marked another impressive performance for the team, who moved up from 10U in September after a stellar 22-8-1 record.

Since moving to the 12U division, the Hotshots are off to a strong start, earning Bronze Bracket runner-up in their first 12U tournament and Silver Bracket runner-up in the Winter World Series. Their current 12U record stands at 4-5-1, showing promise as they adapt to new challenges.

The Hotshots’ commitment to giving back and competing at a high level exemplifies their spirit both on and off the field, making a meaningful difference in their community and beyond.
