HARRELLSVILLE – Larry Wilkins Fairless, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 76 at The Windsor House in Windsor, NC. Born on November 22, 1948, in Hertford County, North Carolina to Shirley and Blue Fairless.
Larry was a man whose life was deeply rooted in the soils of his beloved North Carolina, dedicating his days to the noble profession of farming. His passion for the land, along with his love for hunting and fishing, kept him ever on the go, as he thrived in the great outdoors.
Preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Wilkins Fairless and Forrise Newbern “Blue” Fairless, Larry leaves behind a legacy of love through his cherished family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Ann Casper Fairless; his children, Jackie Fairless (Michael) of Aulander, and Wilbert “Will” Fairless (Shellee) of Harrellsville; and a treasured grandson, Adam Fairless (Heather) of Harrellsville. His memory also lives on through his two beloved granddaughters, Alyssa Fairless (Simon) of Colerain, and Alexis Fairless of Colerain, as well as his adored great granddaughter, Charlotte Faye “Charlie” Fairless of Harrellsville. Larry is also survived by his siblings: Dianne Smith (Richard) of Asheville, NC, J Wayne Fairless (Dennis) of Ahoskie, James “Jimmy” Fairless of Harrellsville, and Mary Ellen Cullipher of Colerain. He will be missed dearly by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A time to receive friends will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home of his daughter. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service Chapel, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Tommy Tripp officiating. Burial will follow at Harrellsville Cemetery in Harrellsville, NC.
