COFIELD, NC – Edward Ray “Eddie” Hollowell of Castelow’s Landing, affectionately known as “Moot Moot” to his cherished grandchildren, passed away peacefully, on November 27, 2024, at the age of 81.

Born on March 8, 1943, in Suffolk, Virginia, Eddie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He departed this life surrounded by his loving family at ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Eddie was a dedicated employee of Ford Motor Company, where he worked diligently for 30 years until his retirement. Well-known for his carpentry skills, Eddie built a boat and was passionately working on completing a second one before his passing. He was also a member of the Harrellsville Masonic Lodge, finding camaraderie and purpose among his fellow Masons.

A man of many interests, Eddie was an avid fisherman who spent countless hours on the Outer Banks pier, often accompanied by his grandson, Joey. He loved deer hunting with the Gates Hunt Club and enjoyed baseball, playing cards, and spending time traveling with family and friends. His love for the outdoors and craftsmanship extended into every aspect of his life, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love for his family. Eddie’s unwavering love for his family, his passion for life, and his kind heart will forever be remembered by all those who knew and loved him.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Erie Berryman Hollowell and Lessie Roundtree Hollowell. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sandra Castelow Hollowell; his loving daughter, Sharon “Rena” Hollowell Greene, and her husband Terry of Eure; and his treasured grandchildren, Savannah Greene of Eure, and Joey Greene of Kill Devil Hills. He also leaves behind his great-grandson, Hunter “Little Man” Short, and grandson, Jayden Goodman of Cofield, along with a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church, located at 703 River Road, Cofield, NC 27922. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Paul Ange. Interment will follow at Harrellsville Cemetery in Harrellsville, NC.
