MERRY HILL – Investigators with the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office are currently working to identify suspects following three reported drive-by shootings that took place this week in the Merry Hill area.

According to Bertie Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin, the shootings occurred at 9 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and again at 5:50 pm on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the 1300 block of NC Highway 45 North. Another drive-by shooting was reported at 11:28 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 4 in the 2000 block of Highway 17.

“Thus far in the investigation, these acts have been specifically targeted at targeted addresses,” Ruffin said in a statement. “Investigators have received information of persons of interest and will be following up on all leads.
