Chowan women extend win streak with win over Barton

MURFREESBORO – The Chowan women’s basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to take down their league rival Barton, 62-45, in Conference Carolinas action here Saturday afternoon.
The win extended Chowan’s win streak to four game and they improved to 2-0 inside league action.
Yasmine Brown paced the Hawks with a near triple-double posting 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds.
Desiree Askew and Nyeshia Savage each posted a double-double with Askew notching 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Savage added 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
The Hawks held Barton to 26.4% shooting on the afternoon including a 2-13 (15.4%) effort in the final stanza.
Chowan outrebounded Barton 61-30 with a plus-20 advantage on the offensive glass.
The Hawks will host Mid Atlantic Christian University at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 12 in a non-conference game.
