MERRY HILL, NC – Delcie Rae Suis Farless, 92, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, December 5, 2024. A service of Thanksgiving of Her Life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, December 8 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain, NC.

Mrs. Farless was born on August 9, 1932 in Bertie County, NC. She married the love of her life, Lonnie Edward Farless, on October 6, 1950. She has been heartbroken since his death on March 14, 2011. She was deeply saddened and preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mimi Hart Silver Liebenberg on December 28, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Starkie and Rosie Suis, and by her brother, Johnny Charlton Suis.

Mrs. Farless has been surrounded by her 23 great grandchildren, 11 grandchildren, and sons and daughters, which were her pride and joy. She is survived by her four children: daughter, Karen Farless Webb and husband Dr. Rick Webb, son, Wood Farless and his wife Patti, and son, Charles Farless and his wife Sharon, and her daughter Sheila Farless Silver.

She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Elizabeth Webb Wells and husband Vin, Blair Webb Hogan and her husband Joe, Laura Webb Covington and her husband Thomas, Thomas Webb and his wife Taylor, Wood Farless and his wife Katharine, Graham Farless and his wife Katherine, Elliott Farless and his wife Anne, Meredith Farless Nelson and her husband Trent, Allison Farless Mills and her husband Ryan, Creecy Richardson-Creef and her husband Drew, and John Winston Silver and wife Ella.

She is also survived by her 23 great grandchildren: Lulu Wells, Webb Wells, Jack Hogan, Liv Hogan, Lucy Hogan, Carr Covington, Ella Covington, Madeline Covington, Anna Minor Webb, Fred Webb, Katie Gray Farless, Wood Farless, Graham Farless, Burk Farless, John Farless, Ridley Farless, Eliza Farless, Elliott Farless, Greer Nelson, Charlie Nelson, Ellie Mills, Winston Richardson and William Richardson.

Mrs. Farless loved her life as a farmer’s wife and she excelled at it. Her life was a legacy of family devotion and Christian values. She loved her Riverside Baptist Church. She was most happy tending her garden and flowers. Her homemade pickles are famous for sure as she shared them enthusiastically with so many friends and family. She loved making them and did so every year…even at the age of 92. She loved art and her collection was very impressive and brought her tremendous joy. She had such an eye for all things beautiful and collected them passionately. She was, however, most proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 1206 NC Hwy 45, Merry Hill, NC 27957 or Midway Merry Hill Fire Department or Perrytown Fire Department.
