MURFREESBORO – Daylan Askew of the Chowan University men’s basketball team earned Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week honors after Saturday’s big win against Emmanuel.
Askew was on fire, dropping 32 points and pulling down six rebounds to help lead the Hawks to a clutch conference win. Askew hit the game winning shot with just over a second to play in regulation to lift the Hawks over Emmanuel for their 4th league win.
Askew’s performance adds to what has already been an incredible 2024-25 season for the senior guard. Earlier this year, he became Chowan’s Division II era all-time leading scorer, cementing his place in the program’s record books. With 1,363 career points, Askew is now just six points shy of surpassing Jaleel Nelson (1,369 points) as the third-leading scorer in Chowan’s history across all eras.
He currently leads Conference Carolinas in total points scored with 276 and tops the leaderboard in three-point field goals per game with 40 made threes.
