LASKER – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cynthia Ann Askew, who left this world peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Ahoskie, Hertford County, North Carolina, on November 28, 1948, Cynthia was the beloved daughter of the late Alise Britton Askew and Wilson Askew.
Cynthia spent most of her life in Lasker, where she developed a love for shopping—a passion she cherished throughout her life, particularly when accompanied by her dear mother on their day trips. Always impeccably dressed, Cynthia’s elegance and style were truly second to none.
Her professional career was marked by many dedicated years as a secretary at Farm and Home Gas Company, where her unwavering commitment and meticulous attention to detail made her a valued team member and friend to many. A devoted member of Lasker Baptist Church, Cynthia served in various roles for as long as her health allowed. Cynthia Ann Askew will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cynthia’s life was richly blessed by the presence of caring family and friends. She is survived by her son, Christopher Davis, and his wife, Shelia, of Carrollton, VA, along with her adored grandson, Tyler Davis of Lafitte, Louisiana. Her very special lifelong friend, Bill Bennett of Murfreesboro, and her beloved cousins, Brenda Flythe, Joan Lassiter, David Lassiter, and Ray Lassiter, will hold her memory dear and recall fondly the moments they shared.
Family and friends are invited to gather in her memory on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 12-1 p.m. at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square Chapel, where they will be able to offer their condolences and reflections. A celebration of life memorial service will immediately follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Ricky Barnes officiating, to honor the legacy of a life filled with love and grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made directly to Lasker Baptist Church, C/O or by visiting tmcfunding.com and searching for Cynthia Askew’s fund.
