Hawks take down Francis Marion on the road

FLORENCE, SC – The Chowan University men’s basketball team hit the road here Wednesday where the Hawks defeated Francis Marion, 95-80, in Conference Carolinas action.
The Hawks held a steady lead throughout the game, never trailing, and saw contributions across the board. Chowan hit 81.1% of their free throws. The Hawks forced 11 turnovers, leading to three fast-break points.
Daylan Askew led the Hawks offensively with 30 points, surpassing Jaleel Nelson (1,369 points) to become the third all-time leading scorer in Chowan’s history across all eras. Askew was perfect from beyond the three-point line, connecting on 7-of-7 attempts.
RJ Wilson and Aaron Ross each added 16 points for the Hawks, who improved to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in league play. Wilson also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Eric Gordon Jr. added nine points and four assists.
The Hawks are set to travel to Young Harris College on Saturday, Jan. 11 for a 4 p.m. Conference Carolinas game.
