PLEASANT HILL – An arrest was made here Monday of a suspect wanted for the armed robbery of a local business.
Jermel Broady, age 39 of Pleasant Hill, was taken into custody at his residence by Sgt. W. Killian, Lt. A. Collier, Sgt. M. Deloatch, Deputy G. Williams, and units of Northampton County Drug & Violent Task Force. He was served outstanding warrants for armed robbery of the One9 Travel Center, located at the NC 48 exit off I-95.
The arrest warrants resulted from an investigation of two robberies at that location.
The first occurred at approximately 7:26 p.m. on Jan. 9. The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the One9 Travel Center where an armed robber reportedly stole a large amount of cigarettes.
Upon investigation by NCSO Detective Sgt. M. Deloatch, Broady was identified as the suspect, leading to arrest warrants being drawn on him for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, and possession of stolen goods and property.
The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office responded again to the same location at around 8 p.m. on Jan. 12, this time for an attempted armed robbery. No items were stolen during this robbery attempt, but NCSO Detective Sgt. W. Killian obtained warrants on Broady for felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Upon his arrest on Monday, Broady was jailed without bond pending a court date on Jan. 16.
