MURFREESBORO – Chowan University’s women’s basketball team secured an 80-56 win here Tuesday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.
Chowan led 22-6 at the end of the first quarter and 42-23 at halftime.
With the win, Chowan improved to 10-2 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
Meara Carter posted a career-high 19 points to go along with 14 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Yasmine Brown added 13 points, six assists, and a steal. Kaleah Boykin finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Alexandria James-Fearon also hit for double digits with 12 points.
The Hawks scored 36 points in the paint, 17 second-chance points, and nine fast break points, while registering 26 points off turnovers.
Over the four quarters, Chowan shot the best in the first quarter, making 61.54% of their field goals and 80% of their three-pointers.
The Hawks are back in action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at home vs. Belmont Abbey.
