‘Snapped’ show recounts grisly murder from 2000

Now retired Northampton Sheriff’s Patrol Lt. Wallace Ransom appeared on “Snapped” (Season 34 Episode 24 that aired Dec. 29, 2024) pertaining to an investigation involving then 46-year-old Kathleen Kraynik of Chesapeake, VA who went missing on December 10, 2000.

Sixteen days later, Ransom found Kraynik’s lifeless body down a path off Gus Smith Road within a wooded area outside of Gaston. She was found wrapped in a sheet and her body had been burned.

According to Wardie Vincent, then the Sheriff of Northampton County, there were no signs of gunshot or knife wounds, but there were other markings that possibly indicated the woman had been taken against her will.

Investigators from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office and State Bureau of Investigations work jointly with investigators from Chesapeake, Virginia on this investigation.

Kraynik’s daughter, Jennifer Blake Jeter, was later charged with first degree murder in the State of Virginia.

“Snapped” – which airs on the Oxygen network – is an true crime television series produced by Jupiter Entertainment which depicts high profile or bizarre cases of women accused of murder.
