MURFREESBORO – Chowan built a 20-plus point lead at halftime en route to a 106-86 win over Francis Marion here Wednesday night in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action.
Chowan improved to 11-6 overall and 8-3 in league play with the win.
Damerius Summers led the Hawks scoring with 17 points, while also adding nine rebounds and two steals.
Israel Powell set a new career high with 11 points, surpassing his previous best of seven.
Cheick Traore recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Daylan Askew (16 points), Aaron Ross (13), Eric Gordon Jr. (13) also hit for double figures as Chowan featured a balanced scoring attack.
The Hawks dominated in points in the paint (36) and scored 21 points off turnovers. The bench provided depth, adding 44 points. Chowan had 13 second-chance points and 15 fast-break points.
The Hawks will travel for a Conference Carolinas matchup at Erskine College on Saturday, Feb. 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
