Lonzo Gatling

Lonzo Gatling, 81, of Ahoskie died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A native of Bertie County, he was a member of Branches Chapel Baptist Church, Rich Square. He was employed at Bennett Box Company for many years. Lonzo retired from Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc. as a cemetery technician.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia C. Gatling of the home; three sons, Joseph Gatling of Durham, James Ruffin of Ahoskie and David Ruffin; six daughters, Roxanne Gatling and Sibyl Gatling, both of Ahoskie, Etherine Gatling of Aulander, Evon McMillan of Greenville, Regina G. White of Harrellsville and Gloria Daye of Paterson, NJ; one brother, Archie Gatling of Ahoskie; three sisters, Lillian Lane of Roxobel, Virginia Mackey of Virginia and Katie Fuller of New York; five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 5 by the Rev. Tony Flood at Branches Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Gatling Family Cemetery, Rich Square.
