JACKSON – The Northampton County Board of Education has selected new principals for Northampton County High School and Conway Middle School.

At the board’s Wednesday meeting, Felisha A. Whitaker-Wyche and Oliver A. Holley were appointed to the position of principal at Northampton County High School and Conway Middle School, respectively.

According to a press release, Wyche is a seasoned educator with licensure in school leadership, curriculum instruction specialist, and secondary English, where she has also earned National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification. Prior to this year, she served as principal of the former Northampton County High School-West STEM, where the high school component achieved 85% proficiency on the North Carolina End of Course Exams for the 2011-2012 school year.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Elizabeth City State University and a Master of School Administration degree from East Carolina University, where she was a participant in the Principal’s Fellows Program. Wyche replaces Pamela Chamblee, who is resigning to assume the position of principal at Southeast Halifax High School.

Holley is a 2001 graduate of Elizabeth City State University, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He earned the Master of School Administration degree from Cambridge College in 2006, and is currently in pursuit of the Doctor of Education degree from Argosy University. His education career spans 12 years, and he has served in Northampton County for the past six years in a variety of roles, including Behavior Intervention Specialist, Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal.

In making the appointments, Superintendent Eric C. Bracy said, “I am excited to announce these leadership appointments to our schools, as two hard-working and overachieving educators will be placed in leadership positions to continue to lead curricular efforts at their respective locations. Mrs. Whitaker-Wyche is no stranger to secondary education leadership having guided the former Northampton County High School West STEM program to unprecedented levels of success.”

Dr. Bracy continued, “Mr. Holley has served our district well in a variety of instructional and administrative capacities, and his established rapport and relationships with the students, parents, staff, and citizens in the community made him a viable and outstanding candidate to lead Conway Middle School.”
