Shelton Leon Jackson Sr., 71, of Newport News, Va. died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Sentara Hampton Complex in Hampton, Va.
A native of Hertford County, he was retired after 32 years as a mechanical engineer with Davis Boat Work of Hampton, Va.
He was a C.S. Brown High School graduate who went on to obtain his mechanical engineering degree from Thomas Nelson Community College.
Survivors include six sons, Robert Jackson and Tony Jackson, both of Newport News, VA, Tracy Jackson of Seaboard, and Gary Jackson, Shelton L. Jackson Jr. and Charles Taylor, all of Ahoskie; and five daughters, Willie Nowell and Maxine Sloan, both of Ahoskie, Judy Dickens and Brenda Williams, both of Newport News, VA, and Lucy Weaver of Wilmington.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Main Street in Rich Square with the Rev. Gregory Gilliam officiating. Burial will be in the Newsome Family Cemetery, Union.
