Adell Doughtie Cowper, 83, of NC 137, Eure, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mrs. Cowper was born in Gates County, the daughter of the late Jesse and Arvilla Lang Doughtie.
A homemaker, she had formerly worked as a clerk and cashier at the Triple A Grocery in Gatesville. She was a member of Eure Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth W. Cowper and Ronald C. Cowper, both of Eure; a sister, Jessie D. Cutrell of Windsor; three brothers, Wallace Ray Doughtie of Suffolk, Va., D. Bradford Doughtie of Eure and J.C. Doughtie of Ahoskie; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 7 at Eure Christian Church by the Revs. Michael Brinkley and Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may join the family from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 6 at Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and at all other times at the home of Kenneth Cowper, 883 NC 137, Eure.
