Nehemiah Pope Jr., a native of Hertford County, died October 4, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Philippi Baptist Church, Cofield, by the Rev. Elton Hall Sr. Burial will be in the Pope family cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Mae Pope of Windsor and Olivia Pope Hayes; two brothers, Richard Pope of Ahoskie and Jerry L. Pope of Newport News, Va.; six sisters, Doris Simmons, Freda Carter and Linda Pope, all of Cofield, Deborah Simmons of Ahoskie, Sandra Bright and Carolyn Jackson, both of Inkster, MI; and seven grandchildren.
