Mary E. Porter, 90, a native of Hertford County, died September 13, 2008 at her
She was a member of Parker’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John G. Porter Jr. of Murfreesboro and Dunyasha Porter of Ahoskie; one daughter, Mabel Porter of New York, NY; three brothers, Johnnie Gatling of Murfreesboro, Emmanuel and James Gatling, both of New York; five sisters, Ann Parker, Lois Gatling and Armenthia Gatling, all of Mapleton, Onethia Manley of Ahoskie and Margie G. Stephenson of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted Friday at Parker’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Fernando Temple. Burial will be in the Porter family cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home is in charge.
