Lady Rams stop HCHS

AHOSKIE – Caroline Bowman led Ridgecroft School to an early-season win here last week.
The Lady Rams’ top-seeded player defeated Hertford County’s Bria Freeman 8-2 and helped lead Ridgecroft to a perfect 9-0 tennis victory.
Ridgecroft Head Tennis Coach Elton Winslow guided his team to a perfect 9-0 win last week in the season opener.
The singles victories continued for Ridgecroft when second seed Alex Riddick topped Heaven Rushing 8-1 and third-seeded Katie Futrell stopped Tierra Walton by an 8-0 count.
Miller Bryant, playing at the number four seed for Ridgecroft, kept the winning streak
alive for the Rams with an 8-2 win over Tyler Christian and fifth-ranked Roxie Daniels defeated Yvonne Harris 8-3.
McKenzie Quattlebaum won the sixth seed battle 8-3 over Tiffani Riddick.
In doubles action, Bowman and Riddick defeated Freeman and Rushing by an 8-1 count while Futrell and Bryant knocked off Walton and Christian 8-4. In the final matchup, Daniels and Quattlebaum defeated Harris and Riddick 8-1.
The Lady Rams improved to 1-0 with the non-conference victory.
