LASKER — With their winning streak halted at 31 games last week, the Holy Rams of Word of God Christian School traveled from Raleigh seeking to begin a new winning streak.

And on Senior Night, the Eagles of Northeast Academy could do little to stop them.

Behind the rushing and passing of junior quarterback Jason Fields, the Holy Rams came away with a 68-0 victory to claim their first victory in their new streak. Fields led the Holy Rams rushing attack with 85 yards and two touchdowns on four carries.  He also passed for 139 yards and three touchdowns hitting 4-of-6 on the night.

The Holy Rams took the opening drive and scored in two plays as Fields took the snap and scampered 57 yards to pay-dirt on the second play from scrimmage. The two-point conversion failed, but the Holy Rams had jumped out to a 6-0 lead 46 seconds into the game.

Following a three-and-out, the Eagles were forced to punt.

Diantre James of the Holy Rams broke into the open for a 27-yard punt return setting up Word of God on the Northeast 27-yard line.

On the third play from scrimmage, D. James took the ball into the end zone on a 19 yard run.  The two-point conversion gave the Holy Rams a 14-0 lead just three minutes into the game.

On their second possession, the Eagles moved the ball to midfield where their drive stalled and the Holy Rams took over on downs.

This time on the second play from scrimmage, Fields hit junior wideout Shaquille Evans over the middle for a 41 yard touchdown pass.  The PAT was no good, but the Holy Rams had staked out a 20-0 lead at the five-minute mark of the first quarter.

Following the kickoff, the Eagles were once again unable to move the ball and the Holy Rams took over on downs at the Northeast 35-yard line. The 35 yards were quickly covered as Zachary Jackson cashed in on two running plays.  The two-point conversion gave the Holy Rams a 28-0 lead at the 3:31 mark.

The Eagles were once again forced to punt.

Fields took the kick 53 yards for a touchdown, but a flag for an illegal block brought the ball back to the Eagle 20-yard line.  Following a two yard run by Evans and a run for loss by Jackson, Fields hit Evans again for a 23 yard touchdown with 17 seconds remaining in the quarter. The two-point conversion was good and the Holy Rams took a 36-0 lead into the second quarter.

Northeast mounted their first threat of the game on the first drive of the second quarter.  Riding the running of junior Bo Daniel, the Eagles moved the ball from their own 35-yard line to the 15-yard line of the Holy Rams. However, the drive stalled there and the Holy Rams took over on downs.

It took the Holy Rams eight plays to drive the 85 yards scoring on a 15 yard touchdown run by D. James.  The PAT was no good and the Holy Rams held a 42-0 lead with 3:10 left in the half.

On the Eagles second play following the kickoff, the Holy Rams recovered an Eagles fumble and quickly converted as Fields and Evans again hooked up on a 45-yard pass play as the first half expired.

The second half was more of the same.

The Eagles could not mount a scoring drive and the Holy Rams scored on two short drives and long plays.  Following a turnover on downs, Fields rushed for his second touchdown of the evening on a 44-yard scamper.

Northeast then drove 85 yards from their own 13 to the two-yard line of the Holy Rams.  However on first and goal from the two, an Eagle fumble was recovered in the end zone by the Holy Rams giving them the ball at their own 20.

On the last play of the game, Kiantre James broke into the open around right end and rambled the 80 yards for the final score of the game.  The two-point conversion gave the Holy Rams the final 68-0 victory.

The Holy Rams totaled 444 yards from scrimmage with 305 of those coming on the ground.  Leading the Eagles in rushing was Daniel with 113 yards on 15 carries.

The Eagles close out their season 0-9 while the Holy Rams get ready now for playoff time with an 8-1 record.
