Northeast Academy has split a pair of season-opening tennis outings.

Days after dropping their season-opener to Roanoke Rapids High School (7-2), the Lady Eagles bounced back to dismiss Pasquotank County High School (8-1).

Against Pasquotank, top-seeded Kalen Rose got the Lady Eagles off to a solid start. She dismissed Chloe Ramjohn 8-1 to help propel Northeast to five singles victories.

Third-seeded Haley Jones took an 8-2 win over Kath Lowry while fourth-seeded Allyson Leggett blanked Katlyn Clark 8-0.  Ashton Liverman, the fifth seed, kept things going with an 8-0 win over Larren Perry.

Ivey Little, playing the sixth seed, then topped Danielle Sherber by an 8-0 count.

The only win for Pasquotank came at number two singles where Morgan Pepple topped Ashlyn Bridgers 8-6.

In doubles action, Rose and Jones started things well with an 8-0 win over Ramjohn and Lowry. Little and Leggett also blanked their opponents, defeating Perry and Sherber by an 8-0 decision.

The final win of the match came when Liverman and Taylor Cocke defeated Pepple and Clark by an 8-3 count.

In their contest with Roanoke Rapids, only one Northeast singles player took a victory. Sixth-seeded Mollie Cocke downed Shelley Cooke by a count of 6-4 and 6-1 for the only singles win.

In doubles action, Jones and Rose took the only win at 8-5.

Northeast was also able to win its junior varsity matchup with Pasquotank by a 5-0 count.

Molley Cocke won 8-0 over Katie Cartright. Caitlin Foster and Rebecca Emory also won by 8-0 marks. Foster defeated Brittany Blocker and Emmory topped Cathleen Lowry.

Molly Leggett and Robin Barnes rounded out the victories for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles are set to host Lawrence Academy today (Tuesday) in a Tarheel Independent Conference matchup.
