MURFREESBORO – Candlelight Christmas, Dec. 6-7, in Historic Murfreesboro is everything special that the holiday season affords. The 2012 theme, “The Magic of Christmas” will celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Candlelight Christmas Tour.
Each year hundreds of visitors make the pilgrimage to Murfreesboro to recapture and experience anew the spirit of Christmas past and present. Visitors stroll along the candlelit streets and walkways of the Historic District and are invited to tarry in the many old homes and buildings there.
This year’s walking tour features stops at 12 historically significant structures, many with new exhibits and one shop that will be new on the tour for 2012. Each site will be festooned in unique decorations of the season. Discover a sampling of holiday foods and live entertainment at most sites. A horse-drawn carriage or wagon or motorized tram will deliver you to a complete sit-down holiday dinner with all the trimmings then venture across the street for your choice of elegant desserts.
The tour tickets are sold in advance only and are $30 per person and $10 each for children under 12. Tour hours are 4-8:30 p.m. on December 6 and 7.
The Roberts-Vaughan House, located at 116 E. Main Street, is the starting point and it is suggested that your tour should begin by 6 p.m. and group tours are always welcome.
The Murfreesboro Historical Association volunteers sponsor this event and look forward to sharing its festive heritage with you.
