MURFREESBORO — Murfreesboro officials are pleased with having a Hertford County Emergency Medical Services vehicle within their area.
At their last regular meeting, the Murfreesboro Town Council was provided with data of emergency calls for the Murfreesboro area. Town Administrator Cathy Davison presented the information provided by the county.
The data was collected over a year timeframe from Jan. 1-Dec. 31 for the greater Murfreesboro area (vicinities including north to the Virginia line, south to Potecasi Creek and west to outside of St. John).
According to the information, the area accounted for 572 of 3052 calls responded to countywide. Davison said the number of calls for the area is approximately 18 percent.
Councilwoman Sarah Wallace noted that the data didn’t account for those who transported patients in their passenger vehicles in order to get to the hospital faster.
“It’s really nice because they are responding much quicker,” she said.
Council members noted they have received positive comments regarding ambulance being stationed in town.
It has been two months since the county EMS vehicle has been stationed in the town.
