Ryan Williams led the way for Northeast with 15 points while Logan Simonovich added 12 and Jake Bryant added eight. Matt Beasley led Community Christian with 11 pints.

The JV contest was the only win of the night for the Eagles, however, as the varsity boys and girls each suffered setbacks.

The varsity boys fell to 1-4 for the season with a 72-56 loss to Community.

The Cyclones jumped out to a 21-10 lead and despite a valiant effort, the Eagles couldn’t overcome the deficit.

“We played well at times, but not with the consistency to win,” said first-year Northeast Academy skipper Tim Boone.

Boone’s team also suffered through injuries to both James Pope and Davis Harrell in the contest.

Brad Johnson led the scoring for the Eagles with 13 points while Clay Robbins and Pope each had a dozen. Will Glover added eight and Harrell had seven. Avery Hargrave rounded out the scoring with four.

Community Christian (4-0) had a balanced attack with Travis Dublin leading the way with 14 and Javan Raiford adding 13.

“All in all things are beginning to come together,” Boone said. “We are very optimistic.”

In the varsity girl’s contest, Northeast got down early, but rallied to close the gap in the third quarter before falling 56-42.

Community Christian led 13-1 after one quarter, but the Lady Eagles outscored their hosts in both the second and third periods to close the gap to 33-25.

The Lady Cyclones, however, won the fourth quarter 23-17 to secure the victory.

Taylor Cocke led the Eagles with 16 points while Ashton Liverman chipped in 13. Hannah Roye added nine and Mollie Cocke had four. Morgan Galloway rounded out the scoring with two points.
