MURFREESBORO – Linda Ruth Martin Askew, 62, of Murfreesboro went peacefully home to be with her Lord on March 28, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
A native of Hertford County, she had been preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Blowe Martin. She was a loyal employee of the Georgia Pacific Corporation for over 35 years working in various positions with the Conway, Murfreesboro, and Jarratt plants.
As a loving, giving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with her family. She was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro where she worked with the GA’s and she set beautiful example for others as a Godly woman who instilled strong Christian values in her family.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Robert Earl Askew of their home; two daughters, Amy Askew Dixon and husband, Chris, of Winterville, and Elizabeth Askew Byrd and husband, Jason, of Winterville; four grandchildren, Logan, Connor and Landon Dixon, and Macie Byrd all of Winterville; her father, Lawrence J. Martin of Murfreesboro; and two brothers, David Martin and wife, Tina, of Franklin, VA and Clay Martin and wife, Teresa, of Murfreesboro.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro with the Rev. Josh Parsons presiding. The family will receive friends in the Social Hall of Meherrin Baptist Church following the service.
