COMO – The Hertford County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect after an armed robbery was foiled by a story employee near here.
According to Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan, dispatch received a call on Friday at around 9:41 p.m. in reference to an armed robbery at Dave’s Place II, located at 533 US Highway 258 North.
“A subject entered the store dressed in all black with a handgun,” he said.
The suspect demanded the employee working in the store to get him money from the cash register and asked him where the Newport cigarettes were kept.
“At that time the (employee) tussled with the subject and was able to grab the handgun,” said Vaughan.
The suspect fled from the scene heading toward Bryantville Park located behind the business.
Vaughan said once deputies responded to the call they used a K-9 to search for the suspect, but were unable to pick up a track.
“We have looked at the video surveillance and have retrieved a model nine .22 revolver,” he said.
Vaughan said the only description available of the suspect was that he is a black male with a medium complexion and was dressed in all black at the time of the robbery.
HCSO Sgt. Allen Archer is the investigating officer.
Vaughan urged those with more information to contact the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office at 358-7885.
