AHOSKIE – A two-vehicle accident proved fatal for one driver near here Sunday.

Priscilla Marie Moore, 26, of Richlands (Onslow County) was killed after her 2001 Chevrolet passenger car traveled left of center on US 13 and was struck by a pick up truck.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Jones investigated the accident. He stated there were no other contributing factors to the wreck, other than Moore’s vehicle crossing the center line.

The wreck occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. just north of the US 13/Brinkleyville Road intersection, approximately 1.5 miles north of Ahoskie.

Jones said the other vehicle involved was a 1996 Dodge truck driven by 56-year-old Constance Burrus Wiggins of Sunbury. Wiggins was transported to Roanoke-Chowan Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

Both drivers, Jones said, were wearing seat belts. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Jones said the truck impacted Moore’s car on the passenger side.

The motor vehicle death was the 10^th of the year in the NCHP’s Troop A/District II area (Bertie, Gates and Hertford counties). Two of those fatalities have occurred in Hertford County.
