COLERAIN – Motorists, especially those from Colerain, who normally use NC 42 for their daily travels will face a detour beginning next week.

The Bridge Maintenance Division of the NC Department of Transportation needs to perform work on the bridge that spans Cypress Swamp just east of the Trap community.

That work – maintenance on the steel substructure – is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 10. It is expected to take 10 weekdays to complete, with an end date of 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21.

A marked detour route around the worksite will direct motorists onto SR 1314 (Nowell Farm Road), to SR 1342 (Morris Ford Road at Rosemead), to SR 1312 (Meadow Road) which connects with NC 42 in the Trap community.
