JACKSON – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 31-year-old Lionel Maurice Martin in connection with a breaking and entering case that occurred in the Severn area.
Martin allegedly broke into J D Miller Construction Company and stole several items from the business. Sgt J. Jenkins investigated the case and found that Martin had pawned some of the items at a pawn shop in the Roanoke Rapids area.
Warrants were obtained for Martin’s arrest and when Jenkins went to serve those documents Martin fled. A short foot chase ensued and Martin was arrested.
Martin was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond and given an April 9 court date.
“The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is working hard very hard to solve all breaking and entering cases, as well as all other crimes in the county. We encourage all citizens to report any and all suspicious activities to law enforcement so it may be looked into as soon as possible. I would like to thank the citizens for all they do to assist us,” said Sheriff Jack Smith.
