COMO – Joanna Christie Gore, 76, passed away September 15, 2015.

Mrs. Gore was born in Cypress, a daughter of the late Savvas Harry and Maria Jacovides Christie and was also predeceased by her husband, Lewis Dossey Gore; a son, Harold Savvas Gore; and a brother, Harry Savvas Christie.

Mrs. Gore along with her husband was the former owner and operator of the Family Mart, Inc. in Como and was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Gore Nichols (Nick) of Como; two granddaughters, Jennifer Futrell (Scott) of Newsoms,VA and Ashley Eure (Tony) of GatesCounty; two great granddaughters, Trinity Eure and Londyn Futrell; and two sisters, Sophie Punsalan and Niki Snowden and their families.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Norfolk, VA with Father George Bessinas and Father Constantine Rogakos officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.

The family will receive friends at Cynthia’s house at 321 Mill Neck Rd, Como, NC, on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. and suggests that memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
