NCSO probes second death

JACKSON – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a second man living on East Main Street in Severn has been found deceased in his home.
Captain M. DeLoatch Sr., chief investigator, said that James Blount, 63, was found deceased inside his residence on New Year’s Day.
Blount lived alone and had a lot of health problems. His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time, DeLoatch said. The Sheriff’s Office is waiting for the results of an autopsy.
This is the second death on East Main Street in Severn in just one week’s time. The first one has now been ruled as a murder
Harvey Davis, 85, was found dead in his home on 422 East Main Street, Severn, on Christmas Eve
Sheriff Jack Smith said Davis was known to have health problems and first responders thought he may have taken a bad fall that led to his death.
However, the autopsy revealed that Davis’ death was due to foul play and the case was ruled a homicide.
The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office contacted the State Bureau of Investigation to assist with the murder investigation.
Sheriff Smith said the investigation is on-going.
