AHOSKIE – The Ahoskie Police Department is searching for a suspect involved in an early morning shooting.

APD Chief Troy Fitzhugh told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald that gunshots were heard around 3:15 a.m. Saturday in the area of McGlohon Street.

When officers arrived they discovered a male victim suffering from what Fitzhugh described as “multiple gunshot wounds.”

The shooting occurred in the 500 block of North McGlohon Street and Fitzhugh said the victim was found outside.

“We’re not certain at this point if the victim lived on that street,” Fitzhugh said.

The victim was transported to Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital and later transferred to another medical facility.

“We do not have any information at this time as to the identity of the shooter,” Fitzhugh said. “We did, however, recover and collect evidence at the scene that will be used as part of our investigation.”

APD Detective Sgt. Stephen White and APD Investigator Justin Farmer are handling the case.

Those with information that can aid the police in identifying the shooter are encouraged to contact the Ahoskie Police Department at 252-332-5012.

Fitzhugh said all information is kept confidential.
