WILSON – Northeast Academy saw their season end Tuesday in the NC Independent Schools Athletic Association state baseball playoffs, but not before the Eagles played in historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson and the team celebrated the most baseball wins in school history.

Greenfield School topped NEA 9-0. The Eagles finish with a record of 13-11.

Greenfield School, the No. 5 seed, and defending NCISAA 1A state champs, scored five runs in the first inning and coasted from there.

Luke Taylor got the win on the mound for Greenfield, giving up five hits in the shutout and striking out eight. Christian Bland, playing his last game for the Red, was hit with the loss; surrendering 12 hits, good for nine runs and he had six strikeouts.

“It was a good year,” said assistant coach Thomas Pope. “We set a record for the most (baseball) wins in a season. Couple that with the football team making the state championship and it was a pretty good year.”

Austin Brinkley was two-for-three to lead Northeast. Bland also had two hits while Peyton Galloway and Ryan Rowe accounted for the other Eagles safeties with one hit each.
