Virgil Shell Bazemore

POTECASI – Mr. Virgil Shell Bazemore, age 90 of Potecasi, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Bazemore was born June 18, 1920 in Martin County, NC, the son of the late Steven Edward Bazemore and Betty Burkett Bazemore.

He lived most of his younger years in Bertie County. He started to work at age 17 and worked until he was 78 years old.  He worked for E.B. Lassiter Lumber Company, Resinall, and for the last ten years of working was with his son, Wayne.

He was a member of Potecasi Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Vaughan Bazemore;

his sons, Wayne Bazemore and his wife, Carolyn, of Winton and Steven Bazemore and his wife, Donna, of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Brittany Bazemore and Matthew Bazemore; and several special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Potecasi Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Travis Henderson and the Rev. Bob Deacon officiating.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson from 7-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12 and other times at the home.
