American Education Week, Nov. 14-18, is a week of celebrations for Public Education. Americans are afforded the opportunity to honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education.

Monday was the National Kick-Off Day and Hertford County Public Schools’ (HCPS) leadership staff visited all schools and personally presented a token of appreciation to each staff member in the district.

Brunette Parker, HCPS Public Information Officer stated, “On behalf of Hertford County Public Schools Board members, Superintendent, parents, students and community, we thank all staff for being all in for learning and when we work together as a team we are spectacular.”

On Nov. 15, members of the Hertford County Retired School Personnel (HCRSP) visited C.S. Brown High School-STEM and personally presented faculty and staff with tokens of appreciation during Educational Appreciation Week.

The 2016 theme is Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 was Parents Day. Schools invited parents into the classroom for a hands-on experience of what the day is like for their child.

Wednesday, Nov. 16 was Education Support Professionals Day where individuals who provide invaluable services to schools were recognized for their outstanding work.

Thursday, Nov. 17 was Education for a Day. Community leaders were invited to serve as educators to get a glimpse at a day in the life of a school employee.

Friday, Nov. 18 was Substitute Educators Day. This day honored the educators who are called upon to replace regularly employed teachers.
