Lula J. Lassiter

AULANDER, NC – Lula Jones Lassiter, age 80, passed away on January 13, 2017 with her family by her side.
Mrs. Lassiter was born on January 9, 1937 to Benjamin Jackson and Sadie White Jones in Hertford County, NC. She was a member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church. Lula enjoyed puzzles books, trips to the beach, and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Owen Lassiter; sister, Evelyn Outlaw; and two brothers, James and Buddy Jones.
Lula is survived by her daughter, Vicky Lassiter Drew and husband Eddie of Aulander; two granddaughters, Titia Vaughan and husband Mike, and Tracy Burkett and husband Scott, both of Aulander; two great-grandsons, Michael Vaughan and wife Sarah, and Austin Burkett; great-granddaughter, Ashley Burkett; two great great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Allyson; great great-grandson, Ayden, all of Aulander; two sisters, Jean Malone and husband “Sniffy” of Aulander, and Dale Jones and husband Bobby of Ahoskie; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC, and anytime at Lula’s home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at 3:00 pm at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC, with the Rev. Greg Hurdle officiating. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery.
