WINDSOR – The man being sought for a stabbing at Perdue last week has turned himself in.

Bertie County Sheriff John Holley reported Anthony Rashawn Rankins, 25, of Colerain has surrendered to Det. D.M. Outlaw on Wednesday afternoon. He was placed in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and made his first court appearance on Thursday.

Rankins was being sought in a stabbing which occurred February 18 at the Perdue Plant located between Kelford and Lewiston Woodville.

The victim, Anthony Beachem, was stabbed four times and had cuts on his wrist, according to a report filed by Det. Outlaw. Beachem was reportedly on work release from Caledonia Correctional Institute in Tillery.

His injuries were not life-threatening.

Rankins is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
