Morning raid nets drug arrests

An undercover investigation of alleged drug activity in Gates County produced two arrests in the pre-dawn hours of Friday, March 10.
Gates County Sheriff Randy Hathaway reported that Aaron Walton, age 30, of 124 Bazemore Lane, Sunbury, and 27-year-old Brian Moody of 1610 US 13 North, Gates, were both charged in separate raids conducted at their respective homes.
“Based on our extended investigation of these two men, we were able to obtain search warrants and executed those warrants between the hours and 4 and 5 a.m. on March 10,” Hathaway said.
“We’ve been watching these two for quite some time, to include our notation of what appeared to be a higher than normal amount of traffic coming to and leaving these two residences,” the Sheriff added.
Walton was charged with two felonies: possession with intent to sale and deliver marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Walton was jailed under a $7,000 cash bond.
Moody faces three felony charges: possession with intent to sale and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sale and deliver marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance. He was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Walton was jailed under a $10,000 cash bond.
Hathaway said that both men were still behind bars as of Monday morning.
The Sheriff added there were several individuals at Moody’s home at the time of his arrest. Only one of those individuals was arrested – Brianne Moody, the sister of Brian Moody. She was charged with possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana. She was detained under a $1,000 cash bond, but was able to make bail later on Friday.
“This is an effort to get drugs off the street and we will not stop; if you deal in illegal drugs we will arrest you,” Hathaway said.
