BEAR GRASS – The Ahoskie Post 102 Braves lost to Bear Grass 5-1 in a junior American Legion game here Sunday afternoon.

Bear Grass opens the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the second inning and lead 3-0 after two complete.

Ahoskie scores its only run of the game in the top of the third. Jordan Robinson walks and goes to second on a Tyrek Beverly fielder’s choice. Hunter Mitchell walks. Robinson scores on an Evan Lassiter RBI single. Bear Grass leads 3-1 after three innings.

Bear Grass scores its final two runs in the bottom of the fourth and lead 5-1 after four innings. Neither team scores during the rest of the game.

Ahoskie has four hits. Ethan Hughson, Evan Lassiter, Mitchell and Beverly have one hit each.

Trent Munford pitches 1 1/3 innings for the loss. Mitchell pitches the final 4 2/3 innings for Post 102.

Head coach David Ellis said, “We made some errors that hurt us today. I am disappointed in the loss. I know we can play better.”

Ahoskie is 7-6 and 4-4 in the conference and plays at Edenton on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
