Thieves strike again

RICH SQUARE – For the second time in two weeks, a business in this Northampton County town has been the target of criminals.

Rich Square Police Chief Altessie “Tess” Taylor is investigating a breaking and entering case that involved larceny and damage to property at The Skill Zone, located at 136 North Main Street.

Taylor said the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 29.

“The suspects broke out the front window of the building, entered, and caused minor damage to a Fish Game machine,” Taylor said. “The suspects took the cash register and a small amount of cash, and then exited the building through the back door.”

Taylor added that the business was closed at the time of the incident.

She is asking if anyone has any information on this case to contact the Rich Square Police Department at 252-539-2315 or the Northampton County Sheriff Office at 252-574-1041. The caller can remain anonymous.

The Skill Zone was the target of an armed robbery at around 10:30 p.m. on June 15.

As published in Thursday’s (June 29) edition of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, Taylor stated that four black males, all wearing masks and all black clothing, entered The Skill Zone armed with hand guns demanding money. The suspects left on foot in an unknown direction of travel with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At the time of the robbery, Taylor said there was one employee working at the Skill Zone and three customers, none of which were injured.

She added that all of the suspects were armed with unknown types of weapons. They demanded cash, which was taken from the register, safe, and another drawer where money was kept.
