WINDSOR – The Bertie Alumni Community Association (BACA) will host their 3rd annual Back To School Basketball Tournament and School Supplies Give-Away on Saturday, Aug. 19.

The basketball tournament will consist of youth competing from Bertie, Chowan, Pasquotank and Hertford counties. Trophies will be awarded to the winning top two teams. To register your youth teams contact Mr. Mitch, Mr. Kenny Slade or Mrs. Jackie White at 919-452-1981.

The tournament games start at 9 a.m. and last throughout the day until all are completed. The concessions will be open selling hot foods and other items doing the games.

The school supplies will be distributed starting at 2 p.m. BACA will feed the kids then distribute school supplies. Supplies will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis at the new Bertie High School.

It’s not to late for supporters to donate back to school supplies to support education and giving back to the community. If anyone is interested in supporting, please use one of the following supported locations to drop off your donated school supplies off at both Southern Banks in Windsor and Lewiston, Pittman Insurance Agency, JB Cherry Insurance Agency, Town of Aulander Clerk Office, and employees of Perdue in Lewiston can drop off to Shannon Strickland. If supporters are out town or state they can use BACA mailing address at BACA Educational and Community Program, PO Box 234, Windsor, NC to mail your school supplies, gift cards or monetary donation for the back to school event.
