AHOSKIE – On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Dotty Early received the most prestigious award given by the Ahoskie Woman’s Club. Dotty was named the Outstanding Club Woman for 2017.

Dotty arrived in Ahoskie in 1953 as the bride of Cedric Early. They had one son, Rick, who now lives in the Raleigh area and she also has two grandchildren.

Most of the town will remember seeing Dotty at the Ahoskie Public Library. She faithfully worked at the library from 1972 to 1995 when she retired. She always served the patrons with kindness, a smile and a helpful attitude.

She joined the Ahoskie Woman’s Club in 1985 and worked tirelessly at any and every position she held. She was previously named the Outstanding Clubwomen of the Year in 1992, and won the Minnie Lou Creech Award for District 9, and the Newsletter Award.

Presently, Dotty serves as Fellowship Chair and always keeps up with our members and keeps us abreast of any needs.

“Dotty is amazing” says Pat Byrd, AWC Vice President. “She always sells so many more tickets for fundraisers than every other member. We all wonder what her secret is. I suspect it is her unwavering determination. She is certainly a key participant in our fundraising events.”

Dotty is a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, the St. Charles Catholic Women’s Club, and the Thursday Book Club. She exemplifies the Club Collect, which reminds us of how we should live and treat others. She is a kind, hardworking, Christian Clubwoman who is sensitive to the needs of others.

Dotty is a role model for all of us in the Ahoskie Woman’s Club, and all those who know her.
